When you want change without radical tuning
Over time, even your favourite production car can become boring with its standard features. That’s when you want to add some individuality — neatly, without unnecessary fuss or interference with the design.
Painting the reflectors in the headlights is one such solution. It allows you to remove the bright orange element and make the front optics visually more restrained and cohesive.

Initial data: Mazda 3 (American version)
The owner of an American version of the Mazda 3 contacted our car lighting service in Kyiv. His task was to:
- clean the light modules of accumulated dust;
- change the appearance of the headlights by painting the reflectors from orange to black.

Disassembling the headlights and preparing for work
Both tasks can only be accomplished by unpacking the headlights. Therefore, the optics were removed from the car and opened along the factory seam.

After disassembly:
- the reflectors were removed and prepared for painting;
- the factory lens and other internal elements were cleaned of dust and dirt that had accumulated during the car’s operation.

Painting the reflectors and assembling the optics
The reflectors were painted from orange to black, which significantly changed the appearance of the headlight. After the paint had dried and the cleaned internal elements of the optics had completely dried, the headlights were assembled with a new sealed seam.

Leak test and installation on the car
After assembly, the auto light service specialists performed a test to check for the absence of prerequisites for the appearance of internal condensation. After confirming the tightness and correctness of the assembly, the headlights were reinstalled on the car and connected to the standard electrical system.

Result
Painting the reflectors made it possible to:
- remove the bright orange accent;
- make the headlights more visually restrained;
- emphasise the style of the car without radical tuning.
This solution is well suited for those who want to refresh the look of the Mazda 3 optics while preserving the factory aesthetics but with an individual character.
