Customer request: remove chrome and change the appearance of the optics
The owner of a Toyota Prado 150 contacted our car lighting service in Kyiv with a desire to change the appearance of the headlights. The chrome elements inside the optics contrasted too much with the black colour of the body and, according to the customer, ‘hurt the eyes’. The optimal solution in this situation was to paint the headlight masks in a matte black colour, which makes the optics more restrained, modern and harmonious with the overall style of the car.

Dismantling and preparing the headlights for painting
To carry out the work, the service specialists dismantled the bumper and removed the headlights from the car. After that, the optics were carefully opened along the factory seam, and all internal chrome decorative elements were dismantled.
Before painting, the masks underwent complete preparation: cleaning, degreasing and surface preparation necessary for high-quality paint application and long-lasting results.

Painting the headlight masks in matte black and preventive maintenance
After preparation, the decorative elements were painted in matte black, which perfectly emphasises the shape of the headlight and gives the optics a more aggressive and premium look.
At the same time, specialists performed preventive cleaning of the light module so that after reassembly, the headlights would be not only stylish but also functional.

Headlight assembly and leak test
After painting, all elements were put back in place, and the headlights were assembled with a new sealed seam. A mandatory step was to check for any conditions that could lead to condensation after disassembly. Only after successful testing were the headlights with painted masks reinstalled on the car.

Result: understated style and a new look for the optics
After the work was completed, the Toyota Prado 150 optics took on a completely different look. The black matte masks removed the excess shine of the chrome, making the headlights more compact and harmonious with the black body of the car.
This modification is ideal for those who want to refresh the design of their car without radical changes and interference with the lighting characteristics.
