Poor light and glare from oncoming traffic

The owner of a Lexus LX 470 contacted our car lighting service in Kyiv with a complaint about extremely poor headlight quality. According to the customer, the car began to dazzle oncoming traffic, and standard headlight angle adjustment did not help.

To accurately determine the cause of the problem, our specialists projected the light beam onto a special screen. This approach allows us to see the real picture of how the optics work and to identify hidden defects.
Lexus LX 470 headlight diagnostics: what the light projection showed

During the inspection, it became clear that the problem lay in the halogen headlight modules. The first step was to remove the installed lamps — they had no critical defects. For the sake of experiment purity, new halogen lamps were installed, but this did not improve the light output. Next, the specialists used a technical endoscope to assess the condition of the reflector inside the halogen lens. This is where the reason for the unbalanced and incorrect light became clear — the reflector was significantly worn out.
Why replacing the lenses is the only correct solution

Despite the headlights appearing to be in good condition, it was impossible to restore the correct light without interfering with the module. Theoretically, there is an option to restore the reflector, but our service does not use such solutions on principle. The reason is simple: it is impossible to predict how long a hand-restored reflector will last and how stable it will be over time.

Therefore, we offered the owner a professional replacement of the lenses in the Lexus LX 470 headlights with the installation of new 3.0-inch bi-xenon modules. This is the optimal solution for complete restoration of light and comfortable night driving.
Installation of bi-xenon lenses and additional work

After agreeing on the solution, new 3.0" bi-xenon lenses were installed. At the same time, it was decided to polish the headlight glass and apply a protective SunTek polyurethane film to preserve the result for a long time.
Headlight polishing and professional light adjustment

The next step was to grind and polish the headlight glass, which removed cloudiness and micro-scratches. After that, we applied SunTek protective film, which protects the optics from stones, ultraviolet rays and premature wear. The final and very important stage was adjusting the bi-xenon lenses on the adjustment stand in accordance with current standards.
Result: correct light beam according to standards

After precise adjustment, the headlight beam was brought into compliance with DSTU and EEC standards. The light beam became clear, uniform and safe for oncoming traffic. The difference between how the car's headlights shone before arriving at the service centre and the final result is more than noticeable.
Technical note on light projection photos

We would like to draw the attention of our website visitors to the fact that in some cases, the light projection from bi-xenon lenses may not completely fill the lower part of the screen. This is due to the failure to maintain the optimal distance between the car and the projector screen.

This is especially true for SUVs and minibuses. For the most accurate visualisation, the screen should be located at least 1.5 metres from the car. Due to the characteristics of the boxes, some photos may look like this, but this does not affect the actual quality and accuracy of the light on the road.
