Initial condition of the optics
The Volvo S60 had a problem with its lights — the owner noticed that the road ahead was not sufficiently lit at night. The projection on the screen showed that the lenses were very dusty, the beam was scattered, and the light output was dim. The headlights also did not look very attractive from the outside — the mattness of the glass reduced transparency, and the accumulated layer of dirt inside the lens prevented the light from the lamp from reaching the road.

Disassembly and diagnostics
To get to the light module, the headlights had to be unpacked. After removing the glass, it immediately became clear that a lot of dust and small particles had accumulated inside. The lens looked dull, which seriously reduced the light transmission capacity. The module, which should be transparent and clean, instead had a whitish coating that acted as a filter and ‘ate away’ at the brightness.

Cleaning and restoration
The craftsmen thoroughly cleaned the module and all internal optical elements. Each part was washed and cleaned of dirt that had accumulated over years of operation. This procedure restores the transparency of the lenses and allows the new lamps to reach their full potential. After cleaning, the headlight was reassembled with a new sealed seam. After the sealant crystallised, tests were carried out to ensure that no condensation or fogging would occur during further operation. To keep the optics clear and protected, the headlight glass was polished and covered with SunTek protective film. It not only adds shine, but also prevents further clouding and scratches.

New lights and the result
The final stage was replacing the lights. A set of Philips D3S LED effect 150% lights was installed in the headlights. These lights have increased light output, providing 150% more light compared to standard lights. The combination of clean lenses and new lights had a noticeable effect. The light beam became much brighter and clearer, the cut-off line became even, and the road is now clearly visible at night. After maintenance, the Volvo S60 headlights look like new. The owner not only got an attractive appearance for the car, but also significantly improved lighting for safe night driving.
