When standard halogen lenses reach the end of their service life
Every part of a car has its own service life. Some parts need to be replaced sooner, some later, and some require regular maintenance. Car optics are no exception: if you keep them in good condition, they will serve you for a long time and reliably.
In this case, the service life of the Subaru Legacy halogen light modules had been completely exhausted, and the headlights no longer met the requirements for safe night driving.

The condition of the Subaru Legacy optics before restoration
The owner of a Subaru Legacy contacted our car lighting service in Kyiv with a request for a complete headlight restoration. The projection of light onto a screen clearly showed the actual effectiveness of the halogen lenses. Even taking into account the unsatisfactory condition of the headlight glass, it was clear that the halogen modules themselves were no longer capable of providing high-quality road illumination.

Decision made: bi-xenon lenses and stylistic changes
It was decided to install 3.0-inch bi-xenon lenses and polish the headlight glass externally.
Realising that the headlights would still need to be disassembled, the owner of the Subaru Legacy decided to additionally refresh the appearance of the optics — replacing the factory chrome with a matte black colour by painting the reflectors. This modification makes the headlights more modern and visually cohesive.
After agreeing on all stages of the work, the optics were removed from the car, and the craftsmen began the restoration.

Disassembly of headlights and installation of new bi-xenon lenses
After disassembling the headlights, the worn halogen lenses were removed, and the chrome elements were prepared and painted in a matte black colour. At the same time, the internal cleaning of the optics elements was carried out. Next, new 3.0-inch bi-xenon lenses were installed, which have significantly better light output and the correct light-shadow boundary.

Headlight assembly, polishing and film protection
After completing all the internal work, the headlights were assembled with a new sealed seam and left for the required time for the sealant to crystallise. Next, they were checked for any signs of fogging. Once the specialists were satisfied that the assembly was correct and completely sealed, the optics were installed on the car. The next step was to polish the outer surface of the headlight glass and then apply SunTek polyurethane protective film, which protects against stones, ultraviolet rays and aggressive operating conditions.

Connecting and adjusting the lights
Next, an auto electrician joined the work, integrating the ignition units into the car's standard wiring. After checking that the entire system was working correctly, the specialists began adjusting the bi-xenon lenses using a professional device.

Final result: light before and after
After precise adjustment, a final light projection was performed on a screen. The difference between halogen light and bi-xenon lenses became more than obvious. The light became bright, uniform and predictable, without dazzling oncoming traffic. In addition to improved lighting technology, the headlights received an updated appearance, which nicely complemented the overall style of the car.
