Why we chose Hella 3.0 bi-lenses for Lexus LX470
We were brought a Lexus LX470 with halogen optics, whose light had lost its brightness over time. The customer noticed that there was often insufficient lighting on the road — the light was ‘thin’ and the beam was not clear. He considered several options when choosing a solution:
- Replacing halogen lenses with new similar ones
- Switching to mono-xenon
- Installing LED / Bi-LED
- Upgrading with bi-lenses

After analysing the pros and cons and reviews, the customer opted for original Hella 3.0 bi-lenses made in Germany, rather than cheap replicas from the East. To be sure of their authenticity, we used a set from a Volkswagen Touareg II donor — this guaranteed that the lenses were genuine, with the required optical characteristics.

Stages of installing Hella 3.0 bi-lenses in Lexus LX470 headlights
- Dismantling and preparing the housing: removing halogen lenses, cleaning the housing, preparing the mountings.
- Installing Hella 3.0 bi-lenses: careful fitting into the housing, alignment, precise mounting taking into account the optical axis.
- Sealing: applying new sealant between the glass and the housing, sealing the joints, checking for moisture penetration.
- Assembly and inspection: re-checking the assembly, fogging test, assessing the correctness of the joints and gaps.

Light testing after installing Lexus bi-lenses
After completion of the installation, control measurements of the light beam were carried out: testing of low and high beam modes, beam distribution and symmetry, checking the correctness of beam distribution and assessing fogging.

Results: what changed after the upgrade
- A clear, concentrated and correct light beam appeared
- The seal was restored — the risk of fogging was reduced
- Genuine components were used: Hella lenses + Osram D2S lamps
- The headlights became transparent again, and the light became bright and stable
- The customer received a reliable system, not a temporary solution

Unique aspects of installing donor optics on a Lexus LX470
- We adapted the lenses taken from the Touareg donor to fit the Lexus perfectly
- There were some nuances: differences in mountings, different angles, fine tuning of the electrical system
- Sealing was checked at every stage
- Osram D2S lamps were selected specifically for the characteristics of bi-lenses
