Overview
The owner of this BMW X5 e53 car contacted us with a request to restore the headlights and headlight glass. Upon arrival, we noticed standard problems with the headlights: chips, scratches, cloudiness of the protective lacquer layer and slight cracks on it. This ageing process of the protective lacquer layer is normal. After discussing the task with the owner of the car, we decided to replace the standard Hella lenses, which were no longer providing the required amount of light on the road.

Over the years of operation, the factory Hella lenses lost their functionality on the road. This phenomenon is quite common among owners of cars manufactured between 2014 and 2017. There is nothing wrong with replacing the standard lenses in car headlights. The performance of the headlights does not change, and all adaptation, correction and other functions are retained. When replacing the factory lenses, only the lens module is changed, which allows you to get new, high-quality light on the road at night.

The factory Hella lenses were replaced with Galaxy Q5 3.0 inch bi-xenon lenses for D2S bulbs. The car owner recently purchased the bulbs in hopes of improving the light output on the road. Unfortunately, however, the bulbs are unable to provide the necessary amount of light on the road without the lens module reflector. Please note that after replacing the factory lenses, the appearance of the headlights has not changed, which is important for many car owners. After replacing the standard lenses, the car headlights were sanded and polished. All chips, scratches and the cloudy protective lacquer layer were completely removed. After sanding and polishing the headlights, they were covered with polyurethane film. And at the very end, comparative photos of the car's lights.

Before/After
Many will say that there are no changes, but there are! Pay attention to the light-shadow boundary between the upper and lower parts, the number of concentrated light beams in the centre — this is the restoration of the light flow on the road surface.
