LED technology: advantages and reality of use
LED technology has become well established in modern cars. It looks impressive in daytime running lights and rear optics, has a uniform, rich colour and a modern look.
However, all this works only under one condition — as long as the LEDs are in good working order. When malfunctions occur, the car owner faces a rather unpleasant situation, especially when it comes to front optics.

Mazda CX-5 with non-working DRLs
A relatively new Mazda CX-5 equipped with LED optics came to our car lighting service. Unfortunately, one of the headlights had a malfunctioning LED eyelash — the DRL function.
This is already the second time we have had a Mazda CX-5 with a similar problem. In the first case, the malfunction was related to the electronic LED controller. In this case, the car lighting specialists had to perform a complete diagnosis.
The only thing these two cases had in common was that both Mazda CX-5 cars were white.

Headlight removal and diagnostics
The service specialists removed the headlight with the faulty LED from the car and unpacked it along the factory seam to determine the cause of the malfunction.

During the diagnostics, it was clearly established that:
- the electronic controller is working properly;
- the cause of the malfunction is the failure of the LEDs themselves.

Repair of the LED eyelash
To restore the functionality of the daytime running lights, it was necessary to replace the burnt-out LEDs. The service specialists re-soldered the faulty elements, after which the LED eyelash lit up again with a pleasant, even white light.

Headlight assembly and leak test
After the repair, the optics were assembled with a new sealed seam. After the sealant had crystallised, the headlight underwent a mandatory test to check for any conditions that could lead to internal condensation. After successful testing, the headlight was reinstalled on the car and connected to the electrical system.

Repair result
As a result of the work performed:
- the LED eyelash (DRL) has been fully restored to working order;
- the headlight is operating normally;
- the owner has avoided an expensive headlight replacement;
- the factory appearance and functionality of the optics have been preserved.
Repairing LEDs in a Mazda CX-5 headlight is a practical and cost-effective solution during the post-warranty period.
